Write down the decisions before the lifting starts
Walk the house by area. Record large furniture, appliances, bagged material, garage contents, outdoor items, and anything that must remain. Note stairs, locked rooms, gates, and the distance to a legal loading point.
A compact planning table
| Record | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Decision owner | Prevents conflicting instructions once work begins. |
| Keep items | Protects documents, valuables, medication, and keepsakes. |
| Removal groups | Makes the volume and handling needs easier to describe. |
| Access notes | Surfaces stairs, elevators, gates, turns, and loading distance. |
| Separate materials | Flags chemicals, fuel, sharps, batteries, and unknown containers. |
Pause where the answer is unclear
Do not use a removal appointment to force a family decision. Set uncertain items aside, label the area, and return to them with the person authorized to decide. A smaller confirmed scope is safer than a larger disputed one.
Turn the notes into a useful request
Share the item groups, rooms, access, timing, and any condition concern. Read the companion Hoarded House Cleanout service page, then call with the details.
